When marketing your brand there are lessons to be learnt from many people. Here are a few that were shared by someone mowing the lawns.

I like the sound of your lawn mower guy.

Tools can help but people often miss the fact that it is knowledge and experience that allows professionals to get extra value from every tiny little decision. Which tools to use for which job. How to use them. What decisions will affect other aspects of the work. Etc.

Great post.

Hi Alastair,

He is a good guy and very reliable. You make very good points and we can easily forget it takes time to gain the knowledge and experience.

Susan,

Nice post and great analogy, especially to getting a haircut. I've gotten my hair cut at places where I have had to wear a baseball cap for two weeks because it was so bad. It's about finding a business where you get things done the way you want. It might cost a bit more and you might have to do some searching around, but it's well worth it!

Hi Yoni,

I think most of us have had that type of hair cut. The good thing is you know it will grow. Sometimes it does cost and it also does take time to find the right business or tools.

It always fascinated me the tools that my brother-in-law George chose for his carpentry/home improvement business. Each was time-tested, and he had different brands for each tool based on years of experience using them. The TV guys might have 1 or 2 sponsored brands, but not the field pros - they choose wisely.

Hi Duncan,

Thanks for sharing that story about your brother-in-law. It is so true of of tradies as we call them that they do choose the time tested ones. One reason I think is that they know the tools will get the job done correctly.
