Usually I advise business owners to pick a few marketing strategies and stick to them, which is a smart thing to do.

But once you’re clear about what works, and you’re doing that consistently, it’s OK to add an additional marketing strategy or expand your energy on an existing one.

Stephanie,

I agree about sticking with strategies that are working and then experimenting with new ones a bit at a time. My question is how do you avoid following every new marketing trend and yet remain open to the new ones that are particularly suited for your business? What's your advice on this?

Great question Heather! One way is to only take on one new strategy at a time. And to choose one, it's important to take a close look at which one is the most suited to your business as audience (are your ideal clients receptive to the new strategy). And at the end of the day, there's no guarantee. Experimenting is a big part of marketing. The key is to keep doing strategies that work as you experiment.
