Identifying which customers represent the greatest value to your business helps you develop an effective marketing plan and put in place the marketing strategies and marketing tactics to:

Retain your most valuable customers and keep them loyal, attract customers who have the same or similar characteristics to your most valuable customers and increase customer ratings on the characteristics most important for your business's success.

Very helpful way of looking at these transactions, Susan. In general, I suppose I tend to think of long term customers as being the best though often they aren't necessarily the ones who make the largest single purchases of service.

You are right Shawn it isn't about the largest transaction. This article is from a model I have which is based on weighting in importance of each factor and the rating out of 5 for each. What this this shows is the most valuable customers, where they are strong and factors that may need to be improved.

The model also can be applied to new business opportunities. The model is pretty easy to use. If you need more info, let me know.
