In fact, it's kind of a return to a long held theory of Seth's that ultimately you should market people what they really want not what you need to sell. Now, the question becomes how in the world can you figure that out and this Seth doesn't exactly answer in his blog post but of course the answer is that you can listen. You can talk to people and find out what they are saying. At the end of the day, finding the people who want what you have or finding out how you can give people what they truly want (whether they know it or not) is a whole lot easier than trying to market something they don't want to customers who don't need it.
