Choosing the right marketing tactics to action can be tricky. After all there are just so many to select from. If you choose the wrong marketing tactics then you will not get the sales you want and need for your business to grow. Continue using the wrong ones and the results will not look pretty.

Susan O.: Another great, information-packed posting from you! You are so right that the "Why" and the "When" are critical in marketing goods and service. I particularly liked your example of Mother's Day. So often businesses market and advertise without the proper context of time, season and "Why." I walked past a store yesterday which was offering discounted winter wear. There was a jacket I might have bought; it was nice and the price was right. It was 93 degrees in Jerusalem yesterday and is supposed to be hot as heck for the next week to ten days. A winter jacket?!!?

Thanks Yoni. It is like most things the context can be really important.

The store should be advertising to us in Sydney as we are moving into winter soon although today was a nice 24 degrees celsius which is about 73 degrees fahrenheit.

It would be interesting to know why they were promoting the jacket and if they had sold any.
