Here are ten reasons why you should write a book with your name as the author, with your face on the cover, with your expertise buttered across the pages in an easy-to read manner designed to impress the reader that you are the undisputed expert who can solve their problems and fill their needs.

I must say I admire anyone who has written a book with all the effort that goes into creating it. Would you ever consider writing another one David?

You should write a story David. 'How I made it to the front page in four hours flat!' Nice information.

I LOVE the dialogue(no pun intended) on Biz Sugar lately! It makes for a real feeling of community! Great article David. I will never write a book about being a florist or stationery supplier to schools, but I have to admit you present some very good reasons to think about it!

Good point, Heidi. Those are two occupations that do not rely on personal credibility and reputation to make the sale.

David,

Sound advice to put one aside...It's hard though, they are my babies! Anyway, I've gotten literary work published in some great magazines and journals, but the book would be the "jackpot." That being said, in the fiction market, I fully realize that I have a better chance of getting struck by lightning, run over by a truck and swept away in a flash flood...all on the same day!

David,

Great post! As a writer's (Yoni's) wife, I agree with the value of writing a book. But, oh boy, is it a huge endeavor! Endless rewrites, edits, changes, etc. Yoni has been writing each of his books for over 1.5 years each. The end result might be publication, but the amount of work involved is huge! Very nice article!

Thank you, Saraib. Yes, very huge. I wrote my book to start a speaking career, only to discover that it's one thing to enjoy speaking and another thing to enjoy marketing oneself as a speaker. But I will never regret writing the book.

David,

An EPIC post on book writing! Great information and all the right reasons! I am currently writing two books: I'm on page 439 of a modern, urban-take on Dickens' Great Expectations and about 390 of a Revolutionary War love story. It's taking far too long! Perhaps one day I will write about business writing itself.

In any case, I agree 100%; nothing says you have "arrived" as much as having a published book!

Great post! Regards,

Yoni

Wow, Yoni. That's amazing. Two huge works. If I might offer a suggestion/nudge...put one aside so you can finish the other. Get one of them out there, because having a completed book is a wonderful thing even just for one's own sense of satisfaction.
