“Why blog now?” someone I know with a website recently asked me this. They went on to ask “I don’t ever seem to have anything to say, and not sure why anyone would want to read it… just how would it benefit me?” Well I thought those questions could be better explained here in a post. These 2 friends of mine, Mike and Beth, have a really nice website showcasing websites that they have created that are mobile ready. They can update old websites and make them mobile ready. Their website is called Easy Does It Media.

So their website is more of a service website than an e-commerce store. I could easily see them adding a blog now to their website. Could you? You may have remembered the infographic I shared of why so many are blogging today back in October. Here are my current 12 reasons why they and you (if you haven’t already) should blog now.

Lisa: I started to make money through my blogging after some years. Not directly from my blog, i.e., advertising, sponsorship or such thing, but from freelance work, e.g., guest blogging.

Please tell me more about your background from advertising!

Hi Lyceum, I do think it's more about the money today with impact of new media as old media losing jobs (I'm in that field myself - advertising) so people are looking for more ways to make money themselves and think at first that blogging could be easy. That's great that you are now making money from it. You've been in it 12 years, that's great. At what point did you start making money?

Lisa: I started blogging in 2002. I stumbled upon Blogger (on Blogspot.com) and said: "Is it so easy to start?". I wanted to vent about important things in life and spread better ideas, since the mainstream media did a pretty poor job.

I am glad that you point out that you don't blogging in order to make money, but you could do that in the long-run. I have earned indirectly through my blogging, with freelance work, speaking engagements, startup projects, etc. You got to know, like and trust in the blogosphere.

Do you think that the money issue could be a reason more nowadays when you see the impact with new media, compared back in the day when I started? ;)
