Yes! Off page optimization is very important. Link building is the way to create a link juice. Blogs,feedburner,article,DS, SB are good tool for Off page optimization. These all exercises must to keyword related otherwise it just nothing but shooting a bull's eye in night. However Ileane mostly SEO people consider keyword research in On page SEO.
