In the beginning you may want to start with something simple, like unique visitors, bounce rate etc. This, at least gives you an idea of the size of your audience and how engaged they are. From there you can move on to more revealing metrics. Walk before you run.

On the first sight Google Analytics can look complicated but everything is just so simple when you closely look and at the end when you realize what do you really want to measure.

Thank you for sharing here at BizSugar!

Wow! I'm only just getting my head around the new look analytics.

But I'm going to book mark this page and come back to it again. I agree, you really must decide what your metrics are...and once you have this information is super.

Thanks for sharing such great information. I'll definitely have to give that private code a go. (when I get my head around it!)

Kind Regards,

Denise

Tom,

Great overview. The most important step for any use of analytics really must be deciding what you want to measure. Defining your metrics is the step upon which every other thing you do with analytics is based. What is it you want to find out...and why?
