There was a time when simply having a website and being online was enough. But after others followed suit, it started to become competitive. No longer could you rely on a basic web presence with generic copy and content to satisfy your visitors, they wanted more.

Right - websites alone aren't nearly enough if you're selling a product, but you still need the site: lots of people won't take you seriously unless you have a website they can check.
