Duplicate content on a website is when you have two different URLS (example1.com and example2.com) that have, word for word, the same content on each page. It is also possible to have duplicate content on two (or multiple) different websites as well. This usually happens when a spam blog plagiarizes the original author and reposts the content without crediting the source. The search engines frown on duplicate content, and if you site gets flagged for having it, there can be serious consequences on your SEO.

It is good to keep reminding people of the dangers of duplicate content. Many do not realize they have a problem. Home pages having more than one URL because of site structure is still common and site owners do not realize that it can weaken their ranking.

If someone copy content from your website, you can check it on website such as www.copyscope dot com, just entering your website URL.

Thanks for article!

It's awful that one can be penalized for his original work just because someone stole and duplicated his article! I did not know that! Thanks for sharing all this information!
