Buying a domain should be simple, but it's a scary process for some small business owners because of all the upsell extras that are thrown at them during the checkout process. Make sure you understand what you need before you buy your domain. And don't be tricked by clever marketing.

Well, it's not necessarily about NOT purchasing domains, but just a warning to new domain buyers about all the upsells. Thanks for the comment Bigmoneyweb.

Hey Ti, thanks. I was always impressed with their upsell strategy and was so accustomed to clicking "No Thanks" that it didn't bother me.

In talking to clients and prospects, I realized many people are annoyed by it or fall into buying hosting when they don't need it because they think they need it to "activate" their domain name.

So true. I can't stand all the upsells that domain companies do. However, I must admit that the setup is extremely effective and it works on those who aren't hip to their tricks. So thanks for creating this piece to alert those who aren't familiar with the tactics.

Ti
