If you want success, fail more.

Man, that goes against everything we’re taught most of our life. Failure is bad. Failure is frightening. Failure means you’re not a good person. And you certainly aren’t perfect if you fail.

Excellent post, Nicole. I've been failing in IM and blogging for going on 8 years, with short bursts successes here and there. Even now that I'm beginning to experience more success than I've ever had before, I'm still leaving a trail of failures. Going through several failing experiences is the best teacher. You learn from your mistakes and become wiser overtime. In the end, it's all worth it and you're a better person and business owner because of it.

Thanks for sharing your insights on this topic with us. This isn't my first time stopping by your blog and reading your content but this is my first time commenting and I just want to say that you've some great info here. And the look and feel is awesome as well.

Keep up the great work; I'll definitely continue to read your up and coming.

Ti

Great question, Martin.

I think, in business, at least, getting a book, blog, or product to be good enough (for us recovering perfectionists) is the important first step.

Too many of my coaching clients use perfectionism as an excuse to procrastinate. ;) So, getting your training out there HELPING people is the part I have to focus on for them. But, yes, it isn't an excuse to put out junk. Just a push to know that you can't help people if your training is sitting on your hard drive, hidden from the world.

Thanks for the comment.

Nicole Dean: Could you become a master of failing forward and strive for perfection in the long run at the same time? I wrote about my business failures on Open Forum in 2009 (Five Lessons Learned from my Start-up — And why I’d Do it Again). I am still learning from them! ;)
