Great analogy Vernessa. I remember reading this article when you first posted it. Your title made me giggle and pop right over to your blog to read it.

Please excuse the late replies. :) Thanks to Ms. Ileane Smith for sending me an email letting me know the article was up on BizSugar.

Thanks to everyone who voted on this article, and I appreciate all your comments here, too. :)

Many of my pet peeves in this post. I also love the people who get your business card and think they have carte blanche to add you too their lists.

Hi JackieP,

Makes you wonder where they got that idea, right? Cantrell talks about this very thing in the discussion. One excellent thing I'm seeing come out of this is that people are finally voicing what's been in the back of our minds for a long time.

Please accept my invitation to join other voices just like yours. And thanks for taking the time to leave me a comment!

Hi Vernessa.

Good pointers.

The key is whether you gave permission in the 1st place - merely making a purchase (much less a search) does not constitute permission in my book. Somewhere on the customer log-on page should be a box to check if you want the endless stream of forthcoming e-mail "deals", "reminders", and "suggestions" they're so fond of sending (that just annoy the heck out of me).

Hi Businessavante,

You've hit that nail squarely on the head! I couldn't have said that better. It is supposed to be "permission-based" marketing, isn't it?

For my part, you can cut-and-paste your oh-so-true comment directly into the discussion over on GrowMap. (And there's a conversation raging over on Warrior Forum in which the IMers are wondering why the big "G" has started dumping their emails in the spam bin.)

Thanks for sharing your insights.

Great advice by Vernessa Taylor. I will take it to heart as a preparation for the launch of my newsletter! :)

Hi Lyceum,

Thanks for the thumbs up! I like your attitude. That is what will allow us all to receive less of what we don't want and more of what we were expecting from a newsletter. Please also add your voice to the discussion over on the article (it's still going on!) :)
