Have you been getting emails wishing you happy holidays? Of course you have. We all get them this time of the year. How many of them are sent by people you know and who know you? One thing I’ve noticed this year is an increase in the number of “Holiday Greetings” emails I’m getting from organisations I’ve never done business with before. I don’t like it.

Hi Sarah,

I do enjoy your rants, usually because they are so true. I agree with you and I have been surprised just how many emails and newsletters are pushing sign ups for products etc. Not sure many of them realise that receiving them at this time when we are busy trying to finish all work due etc can leave a lasting memory that is not very positive.

Look forward to more of these in 2011.

Cheers,

Susan

Glad to hear my ranting has some entertainment value! It seems 2010 is the year of the spam holiday ecard. I saw Chris Brogan complaining about the exact thign on Twitter this morning. Thanks, as ever, for your support.

Cheers,

Sarah

I especially liked bullet point #4. Who do they think they're kidding?

It's not a gift if you have to buy something, right? I'm surprised at how many direct mail campaigns I've received this year disguised as an eChristmas card. Come on! Thanks for agreeing with me. I don't feel so much like a Scrooge now.
