This whole Facebook thing seems so heavy.
What do I have to say about this?
Well, honestly, I could care less. It’s been a long while since I’ve actually been active and engaged on my FB page. I don’t even go on FB anymore. Yeah, I’ll sporadically manually share a link on my wall here an there, but I don’t really keep track of how it performs because I’m never on there.
Seeing all of these changes that are taking place, I’m really glad that I’ve not been using FB. My time is better spent on Google+ and Twitter. Although my page is still up, I’ve be contemplating taking it down because it’s just sitting there collecting dust. The only posts that go on it are the tweets that automatically cross post from my Twitter account.
Plus, I now associate FB with spam rather than business. Most of the messages in my inbox are nothing more than spammers trying to promote their business or get me to join their program. Ugh, I hate that!
I think that we as bloggers should spend more of our time building up our own blog communities, rather than feeding these social networks egos and bank accounts. Yeah, they’re great for networking and getting some exposure but the main goal should be to get them back to your blog and on your list to further engage them and build a lasting relationship. Social networks are just a “meeting point”.
I’m really considering just taking my entire page down for good, seems like it wouldn’t be missed anyway.
Thanks for taking the time to write up this article, Adrienne. It was really informative and I appreciated your insights. I’ll also be checking out Carol’s post as well to gain some more insights from her.
Have a great weekend ahead and enjoy your holiday, lady. :)
