Offering Tips and Advice in Business Articles and Blog Postings is a Golden Strategy for Attracting Clients. It allows us to demonstrate our expertise, skill and acumen. But never make yourself redundant by giving away all of the pieces of the puzzle and providing a "do-it-yourself-manual" for prospective customers.

Not sure I'm totally in your corner here, Yonatan. I know how to brew my own coffee, but I may still go to a cafe to soak up the atmosphere. Just because I know how to do something doesn't mean I won't pay someone else to do it...especially if I haven't got the time. I think the real danger is that when you share complete how-to tips you are more likely to attract do-it-yourselfers to your blog or Website. These folks are unlikely to buy from you because their whole goal is to learn how to do things themselves. People who want to hire you to do something may already know how to do it themselves, so they don't need you to explain everything just to explain enough so that they know you know what you're doing. It's a question of talking to the right audience, not giving away the cow.

From my post, Sponsor and Support EGO Blog:

"I haven't become rich on my blogging yet, but I see great potential in this field in the long run. I have gathered plenty of experience and knowledge of social media and the web (2.0?) during these 6+ years I have been publishing stuff in this electronic journal / weblog. My philosophical perspective has helped me to get a good grip of what's going on in the blogosphere. If you want to hire me for a talk / discussion / workshop or some other event on blogging and social media, please feel free to contact me by e-mail or via a social / business network, e.g. LinkedIn. As a "trader in matter & spirit," I am open to discuss different terms of exchange of values, i.e., delivery of service and payment. As a supporter of objective money, i.e., precious metals, my standard price is 1 kg / ~35.27 oz of silver (Ag) according to the buy rates at GoldMoney for a 1/2 working day (circa 4 hours, effective time)."

Yonatan Maisel: I don't agree with your #3 point on altruism. I am not sacrificing any higher value by spreading my tips, advice and pieces of the "puzzle." I am doing it as a rational selfish individual and a social media enthusiast. My time is "weighted in gold," or in my case, silver. I will write another comment with an excerpt from my post, Sponsor and Support EGO Blog < http://egoist.blogspot.com/2009/02/sponsor-and-support-ego-blog.html >, in order for you to understand my take on the "milk" and "cow" trade. You are welcome to buy the milk and the cow if you are acting according to the trader principle and trade value for value.
