Hi Duncan. I see your point but I think any serious business should have a decent website. My argument is they may be the best movers in the world but if their website or lack of reply puts me off, I will probably never find out.

Cheers

I agree about the lack of reply - I almost always email before buying to find out whether something's in stock, who they use for shipping. etc. If I don't get a quick reply, they're off my radar for good.

There are people who specialize in hand-made items - they spend all day making their stuff - they're used to postage-stamp sized ads in the back of niche magazines - I don't care what their website looks like, because they aren't in the website business. I can think of other examples where the site is relatively meaningless as to their quality of merchandise or service - some of these people have waiting lists of several years, that's how good their stuff is, and how in-demand they are. Nobody cares if their site is flashy.

Hi SB.

I might forgive a moving company for not having the slickest, most up-to-date website - their business is moving stuff, not endlessly tweaking their homepage. But that's because of their niche - the same would not apply in my view to many other businesses - especially businesses that are centered in cyberspace. i.e. I see the moving company's website as an online yellow-pages ad - it doesn't really matter how tech savvy they are if they're good movers.
