Well, we might have known the debate over small business social media use wouldn't end quickly. In a recent post at her online column "The Social", Caroline McCarthy again questions whether small businesses that use social media are less than objective about its value. Needless to say, that also goes for those peddling social media services. And that's OK. She may have a point. If a billboard works better for your business, use it. In the end, small businesses that use social media know what works for them. And those who use only social media know they would have no business without it.

It is a good post and highlights you can get any results you actually want with the way you design your research, sample make up, questions asked etc. As I have mentioned before it would be really good if the next piece of research contained depth and insight instead of top line results.

Also I am not sure why there is such a debate, maybe I am missing something. As small businesses are looking at ways to connect, the more diverse case studies presented and analysis of why they worked could be more beneficial.
