Yes, definitely.

I remember when my blog was once loved by Google ;)

Traffic is pouring in, and the first thing I notice is that my shared hosting can no longer handle the traffic, no matter I try to cache everything.

I end up paying more for a VPS, and then I tried cloud hosting... and then I finally settled with managed hosting.

So yes, more time and resources required to accommodate the growth - but if you monetize your blog right, the ROI is way beyond your imagination :)
