As marketers and advertisers rely less on banner ads to drive traffic, content recommendations have emerged as the preferred choice for online ads. Unfortunately, if advertisers and publishers continue to serve the low-quality and spammy content that has become the norm for this new medium, content recommendations are sure to suffer the same fate as the banner ad.
