I've been a freelance writer for a year and a half and am considered "successful." It still doesn't mean that I am able to pay my bills. Unfortunately it's a dog-eat-dog world where the job usually goes to the lowest bidder. There is a lot of job satisfaction but in terms of $$$$ it leaves a LOT to be desired.
