To be honest, I think longer presentations are easier because there is more latitude in terms of pace and how you go through the slides. When you "only" have five minutes, I felt there was pressure to not waste a second. It meant I had to stay on script, focus on what mattered and stop myself from being distracted or going off on a tangent. It didn't help that there were other speakers ahead of me who nailed the five-minute format. :)

Hi Mark,

Thanks for sharing! Ultimately, many people who have a fear of public speaking might instinctively feel that a short presentation -- 5 minutes --- is much easier to face than a longer one -- 20 to 30 minutes. What's your take? Are longer presentations more challenging than shorter ones or the other way around? Why?
