I don't think the majority of people take the church of scientology seriously as a religion. There's just not enough history of traditions and revelations, let alone the fact that the founder is a failed science fiction writer. But as far as PR goes, scientology gets an F for the fact that everything they do smacks of fascism in the popular sense of the word. I don't think they should necessarily act more "churchy", but since people expect them to react in fascistic ways it might enhance their credibility to prove society wrong by being more transparent, open, and less controlling.

They get an F, but of course we all expected them to get that F.
