I like to use to use images to help illustrate the theme or point of a blog post. It's a proven “best practice” in blogging and I highly recommend that every blogger do it.
One trick for easily finding and properly using images in your blog posts is to search the creative commons licensed photos on the photo sharing site Flickr.

Don't agree with this at all. Lots of hidden pitfalls with using Flickr photos.

One day they're supposedly Creative Commons. The next day the owner changes his mind and they not usable by the public. Howe will you be able to protect yourself? Answer: you won't unless you take a screen shot showing the image marked as Creative Commons and usable.

Have also heard horror stories with the "Blog This" feature. One person got a bill for $50 using a Blog This image!!!

Risky to use Flickr photos! I would NOT do it.

Steve Rubel is mentioning Zemanta in his post, A Lifestreaming Workflow, of June 26. From the About page:

http://www.zemanta.com/about/

"Zemanta is a revolutionary new platform for accelerating on-line content production for any web user. Any user-created text (a blog post, article or web page) is directly “read” by Zemanta, which recognizes all contextual content. Zemanta then combs the web for the most relevant images, smart links, keywords and text, instantly serving these results to the user to enrich and inform their content."

You might also want to use the "blog this" feature on Flickr which creates credits and linkbacks to the author automatically.
