The riots in London and across the UK shook the country and pointed to some serious social problems. But was it really a social media riot? Was Blackberry really the catalyst or just an easy scapegoat?

I like the statement: "I said 'Social media can't start a riot' and he hit me over the head with his laptop."

Peter, are you saying that RIM refuses to cooperate with the law?

So far, yes. They are saying it's private! BUT, we shall see what the discussions will achieve. 'The Guardian says that RIM could be compelled to release the information on who sent out the messages but it could say that the encryption means it can’t really unscramble the real messages. We’ve seen RIM say this when BlackBerry was under fire in multiple countries for alleged security concerns.' We shall see!
