Brands are shouting about how many Facebook fans they have and the number of “likes” does help you spread your message. But let’s recognize it takes literally one click of one finger to “like” a brand. On the commitment scale, that’s a far cry from getting a tattoo. Is it time for some perspective?

I like his site too Alastair as he does tell it like it is without any fluff that you see on other sites.

Thanks for the comments guys. Of all the people I read on Social Media, Jay Baer (the author of this post) is the one I keep coming back to. Solid, real world analysis backed by experience.

If you are looking for that Twitter account Yoni, it's "sitestreamseo". A quick glance at the number of followers I don't have ought to make anyone feel good about their Twitter following. :)

Good point about "liking" on FaceBook - it requires almost no thought or effort, and is utterly meaningless as a "metric". I always thought of it as a soft, well-meant compliment rather than as something that ranks people.

Alastair,

Firstly, thanks for your comment! I'm going to find you on Twitter and follow you. Not out of guilt :) but because you are an excellent writer and thinker in the Business world.

Again, great article, fantastic information and some pinache too! Love the picture too!

Yoni
