Hi Daniel,

I think it depends on the kind of negative commenting we're discussing. Debate about a post can be a good thing. Debate fosters community. And, as others have pointed out, constructive criticism can be good for you. But personal attacks on a blogger or other members of your community serve no productive purpose and you may wish to consider deleting these for the benefit of the community. I'm all for free speech, but I don't think this requires you to allow your site to be overtaken by trolls.

This is a fantastic post Daniel. I completely agree with you in regards to how to deal with negative comment. I've relaunched my blog only a little over a month ago and I've gotten a decent amount of traffic to it in a short time using social media.

While, I've gotten an overwhelming response of people who love my blog, I have gotten one or two negative comments. I've simply done exactly what you described in your post. I saw no need to go back and forth with them but I did think it was important that I at least respond to the comments because I care about what I do. Thanks for sharing this great post with us on BizSugar. I appreciate it!

Negative comments just show that you're already popular. Your haters, no matter how much they hate you still contributes to your traffic source. So, there's no point in dissing them out and hating them.

At first I worried about these rude or negative comments, but now I respond in a positive and professional manner.
