I know we say this kind of thing constantly in the small business space. But is it entirely true? For example, Facebook and even Twitter and Pinterest, are now putting advertised posts out there as a service. Granted these sites all need a source of revenue too, but we've seen Facebook in particular employ an algorithm which seems to make it harder and harder to reach all your followers without advertising. Where does that leave our low barriers of entry, barring some other big free social networks entering the field?
