When you’re a one-guy or gal operation, you aren’t often in a position to hire a fact-checker, especially if blogging is just one part of your overall marketing strategy. But at least some fact checking is necessary for ensuring that you turn out reputable posts.

As someone with years of experience in the traditional news media, I can tell you what is most important is to cite your sources. There is a limit, even in big media, to the ability to make absolutely sure what someone is relating is accurate (remember Weapons of Mass Destruction?) but be sure that at least you explain where you got your information so that readers can weigh it accordingly.
