I think Twitter can definitely be used for leads. We're partners in a local news and information site optimized for local search terms. The site already has a Twitter feed as well as a LinkedIn group, and, yes, we'll generally contact businesses that either become our followers on Twitter or join our LinkedIn group for possible sponsorship relationships.
