Warren, I've not taken the DISC assessment, however I've taken a few of the other, similar assessments for my bachelor's program, which is cohort-based. We had extensive testing so that the college could group us into cohesive teams, which we belong to throughout the degree program, working closely on team projects with a massive number of deliverables. Surprisingly, I found the assessment to be totally accurate. Unfortunately, in life and in teams, you don't always get to work with or work for those people whose personalities compliment your own. Just my 2 cents! Interesting post.

Heather - great observation. Step 1 is understanding self, step 2 is understanding others. Owners and managers who understand the behavioral preferences of others are able to more effectively communicate with them using words, terms, and perspectives they understand. I've always tried to balance the team to make sure all points of view and perspectives are considered and valued. Thanks.
