Suppose you are a key shareholder in a private company with sales in the $2M to $30M range. What percentage do you need to grow Sales in order to build a business that is 10 times bigger in 10 years – or 25.9%? That’s the math. That’s 10x thinking. Or if you are in a hurry to do it in 5 years then you need to grow at 58.5%. It may sound heady, a little beyond you. Well the top 2429 companies in the Inc 5000 2013 Awards grew on average at 25.9% per year or more from 2009 to 2012 covering every activity imaginable. So if you grew at 100% or more comparing 2009 sales with 2012 sales, you doubled in size over that period, or grew at 25.9% each year or more.
