Complacency is a known problem and must be clearly recognized as a causal factor in killing sales and business success. It can kill entire organizations. Complacency makes people fear the unknown, mistrust the untried, and abhor the new; especially the new. In the face of complacency, Business Owners and employees resist change.

Very nice article. Complacency is like a cancer that permeates a salesperson's psyche. Maybe a rep can afford to complacent in a thriving economy, but it's terribly difficult to become "un-complacent" when the economy turns downward. To all in sales: avoice complacency at all costs!

The biggest concern with complacency is that you might not recognize market changes until it's too late or fail to exploit an important opportunity when it presents itself.
