Funny how an issue I've been hearing about my whole life (and I'm mid-50's) is incessantly being sold as new. I saw a Kojak rerun from '74 where he yells at "Crokka" (Crocker): "Don't you know there's an Energy Crisis?" The 19thC romantic era was the early beginning of all this eco-consciousness, also when Malthus wrote about over population & food shortages. None of this is new, and it's so easy to sell because of the perceived guilt heaped on all of us. Now it's a also big $$$ business, and a hot-button political issue. I remember the 1st Earth day in 1970, assuming it was a 1 shot deal. The reason for my pathetic little rant - I believe it's a personal decision - a life-style decision people make all on their own, without the need for constant reminders & guilt trips.
