I think seeing value in your time is the first step. Many people I know, entrepreneurs and others, either fail to understand what their time is really worth or, alternatively, misjudge the amount of time they will need to invest in a project. Either way, it can lead to over commitment. Once you begin to understand the investment your time represents (and the opportunity cost in terms of projects that will be delayed or not completed as a result) it becomes easier to say no to investments you simply cannot afford.
