Well, it's been 2 months of publishing long articles and all I can conclude is this: Your blog reputation wins, no matter how long or how useful it is.

Ivan: I have a EGO stamp, postcard and keychain on Zazzle. http://www.zazzle.com/lyceum1776/gifts

If you find a source in Asia, please contact me! Thanks! :)

Ivan: Thanks for your comment! Yes, short and sweet is the best! :) Do you have tips on sites for merchandise, besides CafePress and Spreadshirt? I want to give the opportunity to my blog readers and supporters of the American sense-of-life, to wear Americanized gear! :) Do you know about small businesses operating in Asia with promotional products?

Martin,

How about Zazzle?

About promotional products in Asia - I apologise, I have minimal knowledge in this... I do know one or two, but I'm not sure they are worth recommending ;)

Ivan:

Yes, Fourth of July is a appropriate day to start a site like Americanized.org. In the meantime, please check out my blog on Posthaven.

"Can't wait, Martin! It's a great launch date to choose :)"

Ivan: Here is my blog post (233 words, 1068 characters, according to the "internet typewriter" app for Chrome): http://americanized.posthaven.com/americanized-banner-by-john-cox

Short and sweet, Martin! Cool banner, too!

I think you should mix it up a little. Sometimes write long blog posts and then write short ones. However, it's just being honest with yourself because every blog post you write is not going to be long. Sometimes you may have a lot to say and sometimes you don't.

I agree with your view. During my 10+ years as a blogger, I have written both short and long posts.

Hi,

I agree.

Ivan: The kick-off will be on Independence Day - July 4th. I will do a pre-launch of the site a.s.a.p.

I honestly can't imagine writing 2000 word long blogposts! How the hell do you write stuff longer than 500 words? LOL! My attention span doesn't really work well with long posts honestly so I tend to skip read! ;) The shorter the better for me.

Teepu,

Exactly - now I need to choose: Readers first or search engine first. The answer is always the former :)

...then it's all coming back again to the age-old controversy between long post vs. short post...

Ivan: Thanks for your kind words. The image is created by John Cox. He has created a new one for my new project called Americanized. I purchased the .org domain at an auction on Flippa. Thanks again for your post on web auction sites.

Martin,

Yes - I remember that you bought the domain a while ago :) Can't wait to visit at launch date!

Ivan: Thanks for visiting my unique blog! :) EGO = I am in Latin.

Ivan: Yes, you should write for your own sake and for your readers, not for the search engine robots! The most important thing with social media is that you find your own natural voice. It is a reason why I picked the word, EGO, as the name of my first blog in 2002... :)

Martin,

Yes - I visit your egoist.blogspot.com once in a while :) a unique name, I must say!

I'm not sure yet if short posts are more preferable to long ones, but i think it is in some cases and vice-versa.

Hi,

It's pro-con, really. It's not that short posts are more preferable than the longer ones... the point is, if the posts are authoritative, then it's not relevant whether the post is long or short, IMO...

Ivan: As a pundit blogger I am glad to see your conclusion of the merits of writing shorter blog posts! ;)

Martin,

:D

In my 2 months of experiment, all I can say is that writing long posts has made me lose focus. Instead of sharing what I think and what I know, I focus on word count, instead.

It's like I'm writing to please Google (as the premise is long posts equal better ranking.) Not good.
