I have stated many times on this website that there is no such thing as 100% security, and my observations while at the Lucas Oil Stadium confirm that. Outside the stadium before the gates opened, there was a very large police presence. This included teams using bomb-sniffing dogs as well as handheld sensors to detect, I presume, possible explosives and other substances. From all appearances, most people would state that they have good security.

Fascinating, Sean!

Sometimes, the fire codes about exits make 'total' security harder, too - you have to have provisions for a mass exit in case of fire, and this applies to all public buildings (not that the reverse scenario would be in any way preferable - being stuck inside a burning building).

I worked in a small community hospital when there was a bomb threat 12/2001. Some genius in charge ordered security & maintenance to lock/bar all exits - so instead of a controlled evacuation, we were all stuck inside. There was no bomb, so I'm here to tell about it. Many of us that were there made the appropriate noises to not let it happen that way again, and a policy reflecting this was formed.
