Your point about "overestimating" the competition is huge. So many people become really intimidated when, as it turns out, they really have no need to be. Successful businesses are the result of long-term effort, not overnight success, so it's really important to avoid feeling like you should somehow measure up to market leaders right out of the gate. On the other hand, don't settle for mediocrity either. Give your business time to grow into something great...and put in the effort.
