Everyday we are inundated with email. Some of it is imperative for keeping your small business afloat, other messages may be personal, and the rest may be junk. But before hitting the send button, you’ll want to make sure your email etiquette is in check. Here's what you need to know.

Another sticky point to email etiquette is that email does not convey tone of voice or intent. It's real easy to inadvertently sound like a jerk in an email, especially when going back and forth with a co-worker, vendor, or customer on a topic you might not see eye-to-eye on.

It's true that e-mail is not text messaging. Honestly, I rarely get e-mails with creative shortened spellings and definitely don't send them, but I'm sure there are people out there who do.

Great post. I have a client who writes in capitals all the time - although she is being nice she doesn't realise she is "shouting". I believe that with email, social media and real life being polite is always important. Thanks for sharing on Bizsugar.com
