My dad used to take my brother and me to roller-derby in Baltimore when we were kids. Violent, but we figured it wasn't real. I just don't like seeing faces that look like they went through a meat grinder.

I don't like bloody fights, either. Sometimes the fight callers in boxing mention blood that doesn't show up on TV, which is good.

I'm a huge boxing fan. There's a link to his Wiki that lists his full boxing record. Parts of his story remind me of Micky Ward - one of my favorites. (I read Micky's book.)

Hi Rivkah.

I've seen many different MMA groups - Ultimate, Pride, Bodog, and a couple others I can't remember (1 with teams of former college wrestlers). I've seen enough to know it's not my cup of tea. I'm fine with K-1 (karate) or kick-boxing (savate), but what I don't like is the "ground game" - wrestling. 2 guys hugging for 5 minutes is off-putting - and boring. Even the fake wresting (which I haven't seen in years*) at least has movement to keep the eye busy and squelch boredom. But I also like what Joe Frazier said a few years ago - in his world, you don't kick a man when he's down.

Yoni made me watch the last MMA event on TV. Shane Carwin vs. Junior. It was a bloodbath. It was the first and last fight like that I will ever watch. Yuck!
