Yoni, I'm no expert on blogging but if you missed something I sure can't see it! I've watched your blog grow and progress on Job Shuk to the incredible thing it is today! ~~Devon

Devon,

At this time I'm not sure I've missed anything. BUT...were I to come back to this post in 6 months or a year, I would probably add and change a bit. A blog, I believe, just like anything else in business is an evolutionary process and a work in progress. So far I've made changes and tweaked the process. Maybe there are more changes and tweaks in the works? Only time will try as I continue the trial-and-error process to see what works and what doesn't.

Thanks Yoni for reminding me of some of those things that I have been neglectful of. Definately food for thought, on more than a couple of levels here.

I suppose its the perfectionist in me...always looking to do it better. You always see the faults in your own house that vistors fail to see.

Thanks for sharing your creative perspective, luv your work!

Jackie,

Your blog is excellent, you have been neglectful of nothing. These are just a compilation of a bunch of things I have learned by making thousands of mistakes. P.S. never attempt to put them all in one article...it would take 4 hours to read :)

Yoni, all of your advice is amazing but the thing I think is most important that aside from great content you come up with titles that are impossible to resist clicking on. So many great articles out there probably miss out on hits because the titles are bland and lack imagination.

Ofira,

A title is of paramount importance. A good title is like a "train-wreck" (apologies to anyone who has been in a train-wreck!), you just keep looking and looking.

You need something interesting or outlandish to make people look, wonder and click.

Great job Yonatan. This is a really comprehensive list of everything you need to know to have a successful blog. The fact that you have made mistakes and learned from them makes it that much more helpful so that others can avoid the same pitfalls. Thanks for sharing all of this knowledge. Speaking for myself and others I appreciate it!

Joe,

Mistakes are those small tumbles that allow for the tweaking and refining of our approaches. They have proved a valuable source of information to me.

Thanks!

Amazing Yoni. You should offer to teach classes. You would have many people come to you for your knowledge.

Heidi/Portfolio,

I've contemplated putting together some sort of workshop. Perhaps in the coming months I'll try to get something together. Blogging will be spoken of and Guinness will be on tap!

Hi Yoni,

Out of all of these which ones really made the difference for your busines? Glad to see it is all working out for you.

Susan,

I think that providing some levity and entertainment along with small doses of Business advice is what has worked. That being said, as a writer I have some leeway to be a bit crazy. I think just humanizing oneself and being an ordinary person is a big factor.

Barack Obama has some interesting poll numbers. His popularity rating is only 47% but 75% of Americans say he's a nice guy that they'd love to sit down with for a beer. Maybe I'm just that guy without a lot of Business knowledge but whom people would like to have a beer with and watch me dance around tipsy with a lampshade on my head.

Yoni, These are fantastic tips for bloggers of all shapes and sizes. And (among other things) I love the energy, enthusiasm and humour of the post. You certainly walk the talk.

Ronika,

Thanks for stopping by! I get so many of my humor ideas from TV, books, movies, etc. The energy? Probably just way too much coffee!

Hi Yoni

I'm pretty sure I've read at least 3 posts in the last week explaining how blog posts HAVE to be short. Thanks for proving them wrong.

Excellent advice, very comprehensive.

Alastair,

I think there is a great time and place for brevity and succinctness. As a literary writer I probably get a bit carried away and make things much more wordy and drawn out than they need to be.

Yonatan,

Some might call giving way all of one's secrets a silly thing to do. I will call it in light of your outstanding blog a very generous thing to do. I hope others listen to your advice.

Alan,

The advice is my pleasure. Most of it is just the result of trial-and-error :)

Braden,

Thanks! Sharing is what it's all about. I consider the first four months of my blog a bloody waste of time. If I can help anyone get on the path...well, you know that corny old cliche!
