You have surely listed some great tips here. I would also like to add one more point to the list - Publish Less. If we'll publish many articles same day then the visitors will be divided since a single visitors won't be interested in reading a number of articles in one go. So we should publish content at a defined pace, keeping visitors' convenience in mind.

I've personally found that asking for comments work like a charm. And leaving comments on other's blogs usually helps a lot - not only with driving traffic but it also gives the initial ice-breaker effect - those bloggers return the favor and other commenters already see comments on your post before they leave their comment.
