Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a technology that has been around since the 1970s, but it’s only recently that it has become financially practical for many applications. This technology has held a lot of potential, but the necessary investment was simply beyond the budget of many companies. The cost of each reader and, potentially, millions of ID chips, or “tags,” was not really an optimal choice even for large enterprises.
