I ordered a new laptop yesterday, and I'm so excited :D My kids own laptops, but I've always used a desktop. When we travel, I always take one of theirs so I can work from wherever we are, but I don't have my programs and resources, and I have to remember to transfer all my work to a jump drive...I'm loving the idea of bring portable.

Hi Sherry. Agreed, working on a shared laptop when you travel is workable, but isn't always the easiest and certainly a lot more planning is required (copying over files/installing programs/etc). Thanks for your comment!

Makes me want to take my laptop from the study and go work from the coffee shop...just because I CAN! :) Thanks, Alex. Great post and great to have you here at BizSugar.

As someone who has only used a laptop for a couple of years now, I completely agree. The flexibility of being able to use it anywhere, and having access to my client info, is integral to running my business.
