The Ice Bucket Challenge phenomenon has been an interesting one to see unfold. It stands to reason that when something becomes so massively viral, there will be vocal critics who will come out against it, especially during a time when there is a lot going on in the media that is based around pervasive societal issues including war and racial bias. That being said, even if there have been unintended consequences from the challenge's popularity, it's hard not to see the good that it has already done by raising money for fighting a disease that is devastating to those affected and their families.
