David: I like the feeling of a real hardcover book, but I wonder why audiobooks have not become more popular? Less than 10 percent?

Probably because the times when people might opt for audio books are often spent listening to music or to the radio - commutes, walks, etc. It would be interesting to find out, but I suspect that audio books are more for transit commutes and road trips, but still competing with music.
