So far, my experience on being strict on work standards leave a person angry. Not me, I do see point of view of the employer why they are like that but for the person I assign a job to. Not all but mostly.

You should mention what kind of team. Each professionals have a level of difficulties and culture. Organizing a team of web developers are more difficult than organizing sales team.

Great list! I find that many small business owners have trouble with #8, letting go of the Turkeys. Nobody wants to be the bad guy. Those Turkeys slowly start to wreck havoc on the team culture and their continued presence and poor performance reflects poorly on the business owner in the eyes of their hard working team members.
