The aphorism ‘leaders are readers’ didn’t just start recently. In fact it has been around for a very long while. Have you really taken time to find out why this is?
Indeed readers are leaders, and I dare add that ‘they are executors too’. The great wealth of information and intelligence embedded in books can never be watered down.
Deep and broad reading habits are often a defining characteristic of great leaders, and can catalyze insight, innovation, empathy, and personal effectiveness. Even though global literacy rates are high, people are reading less and less deeply. Business people seem to be reading less—particularly materials unrelated to business.
