Leadership is; a quality a learned behaviour, which not all people are blessed with the ability to do. "The man/women in the Arena" is a leader, a risk taker, a decision maker.

I believe the first set of bullets are also the qualities of a great manager. The leader that is unknown or unseen epitomizes the ultimate ability of a leader. Interesting quotes by Lao Tzu and Drucker, I would agree in theory, and from a leadership point of view.
I am curious however, about the NEED of the average person to follow. They need a leader, yet if that leader is hidden amongst them, they have to seek them out, or appoint someone else (perhaps even that person that incorrectly accepts the credit, thereby making them the "leader")
But then there is the counter balance that if you empower people, they will take on any challenge, and self-lead. My conclusion is that eventually that wears off, and they will again seek a "leader of the pack"
